Traditional 50-80 minute therapy
How it Works:
1
Reach out and ask any questions for Karen by email. If you want to move forward she will schedule a free consult call with you to ensure we are a good fit for each other.
OR - Just self-schedule a consult call via the link above.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE CONSULTATION CALL: This is an opportunity for you to interview me. Share some of your current challenges, what brings you to therapy, and how you’re hoping I will be able to help. I encourage you to ask any questions you might have and share any concerns about beginning therapy. I will share information about my general approach to therapy and my thoughts on if I think I can help and how.
2
Schedule An Intake Appointment
If we determine the match works, we will schedule a first appointment together. I will go over the intake process, email you a link to the client portal to complete the intake paperwork and email you an appointment reminder with a Zoom link that you will use to join the appointment (it stays the same for all subsequent appts).
3
Complete The Intake Paperwork At Least 2 Days Before Your First Appointment
Follow the link I email you to access the The Client Portal or click HERE as an “Existing Client” to enter the portal and access the intake paperwork. You will complete this documentation electronically from any device such as a cell phone, tablet, or desktop computer. You can sign and submit the paperwork in the portal and I will receive them all electronically.
Please submit this intake paperwork at least 2 days prior to the first appointment so I have time to review it. If I don’t receive your forms with enough time to review the paperwork, we will need to postpone the appointment and reschedule once the forms are complete.
As part of the intake process, I will also need you to either upload a copy of your photo ID to the client portal, or bring it to your first appointment and I can do it for you at that time.
4
Prepare Your Device Or Computer.
Ensure the video, lighting, sound, and internet are working. You can test them out by clicking on the video appointment link sent to you. Click the button below to view these tips.
5
Click The Video Appointment Link At The Time Of Your Appointment
The Zoom meeting link will be sent to you by email with the appointment reminder. Follow the prompts to enter the appointment. The meeting link will stay the same week-to-week and will always be included in your appointment reminders.
6
Attend Your First Session
We will review your paperwork, make sure the tech is working fine, discuss your main concerns, therapy goals, and clarify practical concerns such as payment, confidentiality, and cancellations. This first meeting will allow us the opportunity to get to know one another and better determine whether we are a good match.
7
Attend Subsequent Appointments
This is where the work begins. We will work together to uncover where you would like to start, and then follow the natural trajectory of what comes up for you, structuring sessions based on your preference and my guidance. Usually, after the first couple of sessions my clients feel more comfortable and get into a groove that works for them.
It is initially recommended to commit to weekly appointments to set the foundation of our work. As things get better for you, the goal is to decrease the amount of therapy over time. Based on your specific needs, appointments may eventually be scheduled every 2 weeks or even once a month.
Therapy usually ends when a client reaches their treatment goals and is feeling better. Regardless of how long we work together, I always encourage meeting for a final session in order to provide closure and direction for the next steps in your life.
